I just realised something.......stock cubes have preservatives in them in the the first place......
doesn't that mean that it makes no difference whether i put more preservatives in or not because there are already preservatives in the stock?
what am i going to do? what am i going to do?
............
oh wait, i just realised after searching up a few stock brands that they advertise as preservatives free.

so my dilemma is over. YAY!

having not received any new instructions since the last blog was due....i am guessing that i am supposed to be researching my experiement, topic.
well the truth is, there isn't much more i can say about preservatives.......i think i may have covered everything on it.
but being the careless person i am, i might aswell go through everything again to make sure.

So, my SRP will be

"Do preservatives stop the growth of bacteria?"
The independent variable in this experiment will be- the amount of chicken stock I use and the types of preservatives I use.
The preservatives that I will be using are
- Lemon Juice - Salt
- Sugar - White Vinegar
This means that the dependant variable will be the amount in bacteria in my stock.
The controlled variables will be the number of days that the preservatives are left in the stock and where I leave the stock.
-I know that I am supposed to have researched several other experiments which I could do, but this is the only one that I really want to do……

The method I am going to use for conducting this experiment will be:
1. Dissolve 2 cubes of chicken stock in 1 litre of hot water
2. Pour the mix into 5 cups, each cups MUST have the same amount
3. Add 2 tablespoon of each preservative in a different cup. Make sure to label the cups with a label that clearly indicates the type of preservative added.
4. Add no preservative into the 5th cup because this is the control. Clearly label this cup as the control.
5. Leave the 5 cups in the same warm place (window sill of kitchen) for 3 days.
6. At the end of the 3 days look at the cups and observe which one is cloudier.

I haven't figured out how I am going to measure the cloudiness.....but I'm getting to that.
I hope that I have done this correctly, especially the independent variables and stuff...... :s

so...for my experiment I have figured out that my controlled variable will be the amount of stock that i use, the amount of preservative that i use and the number of days that it is left in room temperature. The dependant variable will be the amount of bacteria that forms.
